Residents escape death as another tanker explodes in Benue
Barely two days after a fuel-laden tanker fell and exploded in Oshigbudu, Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State, another tanker met a similar fate in the community.
Twelve persons were killed in Sunday’s tanker explosion at Oshigbudu and several houses were set ablaze.
The latest incident, according to sources, happened in the early hours of Tuesday a few metres from the scene of the previous incident.
The Vice-Chairman of the local government council, John Ikwulono, who confirmed the incident to journalist, said that no life was lost except for a few houses that were razed.
Ikwulono stated, “Yes, another petroleum tanker fell around 4am today (Tuesday); it happened as you are entering Oshigbudu and it spilled its contents and exploded.
“But thank God, the scene of the accident is as you are entering Oshigbudu, where there are a few houses; so, there is no casualty, except for a few houses that the content spilled to.”
The vice-chairman added that residents had to resort to using water and detergent to extinguish the fire.
